Job Title: Foreman - Data Center Technician
Reports To: Managing Partner


Job Overview As a Foreman - Data Center Technician specializing in air containment builds, cabling, secured cage, and network conveyance, you will be a key member of our data center operations team, responsible for building, and maintaining secure environments within our clients’ data centers. Your assistance in leading and training our Journeyman and Apprentices in security cage construction, cable management, air containment and connectivity will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of our clients’ critical infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day installation activities for all assigned projects and while prioritizing safety, ensuring the quality assurance and compliance of installed systems, and managing the project workload to achieve the project delivery schedule.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to plan and execute data center projects according to project scope and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts, connections, configurations, and project progress.
  • Provide status updates on a regularly defined basis to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Interact and communicate with clients, partners, and other personnel onsite to relay project status, identify issues and resolutions, and coordinate activities with other teams.
  • Supervise the area(s) of work for all technicians to ensure that the space is being kept organized, safe, and clean.
  • Supervise work practices to ensure that junior personnel are working safely, following the data center rules and regulations, and Company work rules and regulations.
  • Oversee all Company personnel and ensure that they are acting in a professional manner and adhering to workplace policies. Employees shall show up on time, be fit for work, and have a clean and neat appearance.
  • Lead and manage a team with the construction and installation of security cages, utilizing precision measurement, to ensure sturdy and secure enclosures.
  • Lead and manage a team with the coordination and the installation of air containment systems, within secure spaces, ensuring seamless integration, energy efficiency, aesthetics, and functionality.
  • Lead and manage a team with the coordination and the installation of fiber and cable tray, utilizing precision measurement, to ensure sturdy and secure enclosures.
  • Lead and manage a team with the organization, routing, and labeling of network cables including fiber and copper cables within the data center environment to provide for connectivity between networks, server infrastructure, and carrier services. This work will be done following industry standards and best practices and allow for optimized airflow, maintenance access, and aesthetics.
  • Lead and manage a team with cable terminations, splicing, and testing using specialized equipment to ensure reliable data transmission and minimal signal loss.
  • Maintain neat and well-organized patch panels, ensuring proper documentation of cable connections and labeling for ease of troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Provide oversight and on the job training for journeymen, apprentices, and junior personnel to ensure that systems and tasks outlined above are being executed safely, properly, and with the up most quality.
Qualifications:
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or coursework in network cabling is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and codes related to network cabling (e.g., ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801).
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and rectify issues efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate and interpret results from testing equipment, such as cable testers and certifiers.

Physical Requirements:
 
  • Position may involve frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and lifting.  Lifting requirements may range up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, with heavier weights done in conjunction with other individuals or lifting aids.
